Research Project: Race, Ethnicity and Gender in Sports Governance
This innovative research project aims to develop a more detailed understanding of minority-ethnic women's experience in decision-making roles in sport. The research will support the sport sector in learning about the perceived barriers or enablers for minority-ethnic women in leadership, and what support is required to overcome these barriers.
There is a historic generational distribution of leadership positions to older white, male candidates within sport organisations. Research found that there are only five Asian women and four Black women out of 415 leading sports board members (Telegraph Women's Sport (2021). This project aims to address this deficit and will provide invaluable information to sports governing bodies and organisations.
